"Paris" end of Flinders Lane

For our Melbourne visit, we're looking into a short-let flat located at the "Paris" end of Flinders Lane. Is this too far from the CBD and how safe is that neighborhood? Would appreciate your insight to this before we decide to make reservations. We're open to other apartment suggestions as well. Thanks so much!

Paris end of Flinders Lane? That's funny! There's a Paris end of Collins St so called because it is a wide tree lined boulevard that used to be home to all the exclusive labels.

Flinders Lane is none of these. I guess by that they mean east of Russell St. It's quiet up there especially at night. Not far to walk to to visit family and friends restaurants, cafes and night clubs. About a 10 minute walk down to the Bourke St Mall and perhaps a 15 or 20 minute stroll to Southbank.

and there are also numerous other references to the area as "the Paris End"

Given this is the end of collins st i stay in regularly I can assure the OP..

5 mins to the Mall walking, 10 mins to Southbank, leisurely stroll, great restaurants right at the doorstep, Cumulus, Cecconis etc.

Finders Lane east of Swanston St (or as you refer to it as the Paris end) is a safe area that, although it is not in the heart of the city, it is only a short walk to both the Bourke St mall & Southbank areas.
