Rare old film

A friend just emailed me this link to rare old footage of Melbourne in 1910 ... I thought I would share it with you.

That was amazing to watch - and makes me even more appreciative of living in a city that has retained so much of its historical past in the streetscapes.

Remarkable to see people walking in the streets - unhindered by cars!!

Fantastic that after more than 100 years Melbourne is still so recognizable. Most of the featured buildings are still the same.

Richmond station has hardly changed a bit - except for the MyKi barriers and slightly newer rolling stock.

Was that a Collingwood vs Carlton game?

Very interesting - the Melbourne Harbour images looked like warships - would it have been the American Great White Fleet (1908)??

Nice to see they STILL haven't completed Parliament House - opening shot.

And its before the electrification of the suburban rail system....mind you the journeys probably were just as fast back then.
