Lunch near Bourke St Mall?

Hello - feeling overwhelmed with the options - decided on a quick trip to Melbourne. Looking for somewhere to eat lunch on Saturday walking distance from Bourke St Mall. We would like to be able to sit down, & enjoy the meal, the more 'melbourne' it is, the better!

We are on a budget, $20 pp would be good. And folks don't enoy Asian food, so need to stay away...

Any recommendations woudl be great!

Degraves St. Any of the cafes there will have something in your budget.

Alternately, Hardware Lane is 'tres Melbourne'.

Both within a few hundred metres of Bourke St Mall.

The food court at Southgate is also very popular for lunch if that appeals. If you're lucky and its a nice day you can eat outside overlooking the river.

Another vote for Degraves st & the Hardware lane precinct. But I'd have to choose Degraves st for it's location.

If you can, maybe even share some French waffles as dessert at Waffle On, at the Flinders st end of Degraves st. Enjoy your lunch!

Stalactites (Greek) is such a Melbourne institution but best check it if still open as it was closed for renovations when I went past a few weeks ago.

Huge queue at the new enlarged souvlaki counter when I went past last week.

Who knew you could get a souva before 2 am. 😀
