Saturday lunch with a view?

Hi

We will be in Melbourne at the end of January and would like to have Saturday lunch in a good restaurant that has a nice view and which accepts reservations.

We will be staying at the Langholm and won't have a car but happy to take a taxi as long as it is not two hours away!

We are not fussy eaters so any type of cuisine is fine as long as the food is good. Also not too worried about price as it will be part of our holiday.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Vue de Monde is the usual suspect BUT a saturday can be a challenge (ie it isn't open)

We've always had excellent meals at Number 8

Stokehouse at St Kilda may be another choice.

Great suggestions from GW.

A few more for consideration;

The Point, Pure South, and Tutto Bene

I think you're right GW, now that I think about it, I don't think I've been to Pure South on a weekend at all. Good point.

I haven't been to Tutto Bene in almost a year, threw that in more for view than anything.

Why don't you just stay at The Langham and eat lunch at Melba if price is not an issue?

You may also want to consider the Tram Car Restaurant for a number of different views, Taxi Dining Room at Transport at Fed Square, Donovans in St Kilda and Number 8 or Rockpool at Crown.

Update: We booked at the Stokehouse and arrived a few days after it had burned down! On hotel concierge's recommendation, booked at Donovan's - food, service and view were all excellent.

Hi Ayalax, glad that Donovan's was a great alternative to the Stokehouse. I felt sorry for the poor girl that that had planned her wedding reception at the Stokehouse~ Not sure if was on the actual night or a few days before but imagine how stressful that would be?!
