Which Melbourne 5 star hotel has the best pool and gym

My wife and I are looking for a 5 star hotel for the weekend (her birthday) and would like a nice big pool and gym. We have stayed at Crown and we're happy with their facilities, but would like to know if there is a hotel with better pool/gym?

Hi,

Really subjective so we can only offer suggestions as to what everyone believes is the 'best'. And even then, it's predominantly about the pool, not so much the gym - which is why travel magazines and travel shows occasionally to article/pieces on pools, but never about the gym.

Over the past three years or so, the two hotels which gets the most media attention, are the Langham Melbourne, and Crown Towers. The former has a magnificent view, with an under cover pool - but opens up to an outdoor sundeck. The latter has one of the largest hotel atrium pools in Australia.

At a guess, the greater majority would pick the Langham.

On a slightly more 'quirky' but no less plush, is the unique pool at The Adelphi Melbourne. It overhangs out onto the street/lane, so you can view pedestrians below. They have beautifully appointed Art Deco styled rooms - BUT no gym.

IMHO the best sporty pool and gym is at Grand Hyatt

How many gyms in hotels have an ice bath?

BUT… what is the purpose of the pool, laps or relax?

I like the pool at the Park Hyatt

I don't do gyms

don't go skinny dipping at the overhanging pool as pedestrians can also look up

Thanks. We like to 'lounge by the pool' (not laps) and workout at the gym. We will be going in May so it will be cool.

Ok , then cross off the Adlephi pool as it's really just a lap pool (albeit a stunning one) and I can't imagine that lounging around in it was the intention when it was built. Hope this helps.

I have stayed at the Grand Hyatt a few times and they have a nice pool and gym. In May it would be perfect as you wouldn't be doing too much lounging by the pool outside. Grand Hyatt is in a great location as well.
