Philip Island or Low head for Penguin watch

We are visiting Melbourne and Tasmania during this September. Noticed there are Penguin watch in both these locations, we want to visit either one of them. We really want to get as close as possible. Which one is good based on your experience.

I haven't been to Low Head but the reviews and photos of each place here on TripAdvisor will give you a good idea of the differences. Low Head appears to be a much more intimate experience but with less penguins. The Phillip Island Penguin Parade regularly has spectacular arrivals of between 500 and 1000 or more penguins but also more people and therefor more separation of people and penguins is required. However a similar experience to Low Head is offered with the Penguin Parade 'Ultimate Adventure Tour'.

Tootti they are year round events, the Penguin Parade is open 365 days a year. Satish was probably just referring to his visit.

I liked the penguin tour at Bicheno in Tasmania. Again not as many penguins as Phillip Island but smaller groups of people too.

Thank you PenguinMac. We are thinking of making a family visit to Melbourne in early late September early October and was just thinking of a couple of things to see. The Penguins would be fascinating.
