Koalas - (not bears) - are not native to Western Australia. You can see them at:

Cohuna Wildlife Park and have your picture taken holding one www.cohunu.com.au

Marapana Wildlife Park has a "pat and chat" www.marapana.com

Perth Zoo www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au

The Maze www.themaze.com.au

and

Yanchep National Park …wa.gov.au/component/…

and Caversham Wildlife Park which in my opinion is the best place to see them.

Koalas (not bears) are not native to WA so they won't be just hanging about in the trees waiting for your visit.

Captive koalas can be seen at a number of places, including Cohunu Koala Park, Caversham Wildlife Park, Marapana Wildlife Park, Perth Zoo and Yanchep National Park. Cohunu and Marapana advertise you can touch the koalas and Caversham that you can have photos taken standing next to them.

We must have been channelling each other, Perthite :-)

We must indeed YF :-) I enjoyed Yanchep the best - less crowds during the week.

Perth Zoo is close to the Perth CBD, Cohunu and Caversham are in the greater Perth metro area and Marapana is 10 minutes north of Mandurah. I would think you would be able to visit one of them.

I studied the suggestions again & The Maza look very do-able & appealing to us as a family. The drive up from City Perth is about an hour. We will visit Hillarys Boat Harbour after that.

I am a fan of the Maze - they have far more Koala's than all the other places put together, and far less crowds. They have plenty of other animals plus the mazes to toss the kids into for a while till they scream for help. There is a cafe for a meal or lovely parkland to picnic in.

Then drive on down the coast to Hillary's from there.
