A wet winter day in Perth. What to do?

We will be in Perth in June. Have lots of places to see but what should we do/visit if it is a wet day? We r staying in central Perth and walking or using public transport. Ideas?

We'd be really, really happy if we have a wet day.

We are so short on water that we sometimes wonder what that stuff is falling from the sky.

Lots of things to see and do ... even if there is a bit of water coming down on top of you .... take a cruise down the river to Fremantle .. takes about an hour. The boats leave from Barrack Street Jetty and there is protection on the boat from the weather.

Walking around Fremantle would be OK ... you can take cover in restaurants and shops if it gets too wet ... and you can get the train back to the city.

Or go on an organised tour by bus to the Swan Valley ... which visits some wineries (and includes lunch), the chocolate factory .. and you can bus or cruise it back.

Other places to visit include the Perth Mint, the Burswood Resort - walk around the resort and have a bite to eat ... there is also a casino there if that takes your fancy; take the train to Mandurah.

There is a visitor centre on the corner of William and Hay Streets where you can go and get lots more ideas when you arrive.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our beautiful city ... and we hope lots of rain comes before and after your visit ... so you can enjoy it more.

Freemantle prison was quite good for an hour or so.

In the CBD there is also WA Museum, and WA Art Gallery, both pretty well next door to each other. The Fremantle Museum and Maritime Museum (different locations are also interesting IMO, but then I like museums (can you tell :-) ?).

Or you could just stand and watch the locals who will all be gazing up at the sky wondering what the mysterious wet stuff is.

I would recommend the museums and art galleries in Perth CBD for a wintry day, followed by dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area

Rain? What's that?

(We're wondering the same thing here in Colorado, where it's dry as a bone).

I've done some research on this - Cardiff has an average of 13 rainy June days; Perth has an average of 15 rainy June days, so OP probably won't notice the difference! :-)

There are two cathedral's in Perth City, St George's Cathedral (Anglican) and also St Mary's Cathedral (Catholic). I have enjoyed a visit to St Mary's Cathedral before, although I am sure they are pretty small compared to what you have in the UK!
