Family of 4. Accommodation in Perth &/or surrounds

We are 2 adults & 2 small children. Looking for some decent accommodation but really struggling to find places that cater for 4 in one room. The Esplanade in Fremantle would be our no. 1 choice if only they allowed more than 3 in a room!!!

It can be anywhere within 20/30 mins of Fremantle as we are going on a cruise.

Plan on visiting family / friends during our stay. We figure they can come to us rather than us hiring a car to get to them. Will use a Taxi to get to cruise terminal. So the rooms need to be nice with some cafes / restaurants etc... within walking distance.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you checked the apartments etc listed on tripadvisor Fremantle for ideas?

Also the visitor centre web site

www.fremantlewa.com.au/accommodation.asp

Sorry no personal recommendation, but if you come across any places I can give you info about location.

I would go for an apartment or house rental as Jean suggests. They are often cheaper than a hotel room and you get heaps more space for the kiddies to run around in, and you can entertain your friends and relatives.

Depending on how long you will be staying we have stayed at Mole End Cottage which is lovely, well equipped with beach equipment you can borrow, picnic stuff, a 10-15 minute stroll from the middle of Freo (and there's a bus stop nearby to take you straight in if you wish) and even has a bit of a backyard for playing in.

Thanks for your suggestions so far. Can't do an apartment or house rental as only in Perth for 2 nights. Really need a hotel or serviced apartment.

Mole End rents per night so don't understand why you couldn't rent it for 2 nights (unless unavailable for your dates of course). Both Jean and YF suggested apartments - they would of course be serviced...

The Tradewinds Hotel will allow 4 in a room.

If you go to www.westernaustralia.com and use their accommodation search feature there are quite a few hotels and apartments that come up for Freo.

As you have stated you are happy to stay within 20 or 30 minutes of Freo, you can also consider the CBD hotels or in the other direction, Coogee Beach Holiday Park.

Have you looked into this one?

tripadvisor.com.au/Hotel_Review-g285726-d298…

We stayed here once with my 3 kiddies. We had a 2 brdm apartment. Really loved it. It had a kitchen area to prepare kids food. wide slide doors and you could walk out to the river. Hotel has restaurant if you wish to have breakfast. It also has 2 pools, an indoor and an outdoor. Location is pretty being on the river Theres a path along it, you can walk with your kids. Only downside is tht its not central to freo, so no shops or other restaurants but because of it, its really nice and quiet.

Have a look at Cottesloe too. Less than 20 mins from Freo. Cafes/restaurants on beachfront.

No idea on your budget but example of accom below:

Many houses and apartments rent per night or minimum two nights. Have you checked?

Hi I lived in Bickley for many years so spent a lot of time driving past the Wattle Grove Motel as I headed to the coast. Yes, ideal location if you want to be close to airport and seemed very popular, but don't think it a very good location for your family ( not an interesting vibe in general location) and would be an expensive taxi to Fremantle. Hope you have luck finding what you need-some good suggestions have been given in posts.
