7D6N route for Perth CBD, Harvey Hills and Margaret River

Hello everyone

We are a family of 2 adults with 1 toddler planning for a 7D6N trip in march. We wonder if the following route doable within the given timeframe and is there anything that we could have missed? Main objectives is for our child to enjoy the nature, animals and beach.......

Arriving Perth International Airport at 3pm - Pick up car and drive straight to the Harvey Hills Farm Stay. (Is there any supermarket along the route where we can pick up some supplies?

We plan to stay 2 nights Harvey Hills Farm Stay to explore the farm and its surrounding. Given that we would arrive the farm by evening (est. 6 to 7pm). We would be left with 1.5 days in the farm to explore the farm and perhaps some of its surrounding like the dam.

From Harvey Hills we plan to move down to margaret rivers for 2 nights for some beach and cave time, stops at bunburry, busselton. What will be the recommended activities for kids in this region? Is there any fruits orchard that we can let our toddler to do some fruits picking?

After margaret rivers, we will then travel back to perth CBD for 2 nights for The caversham wildlife park, swan valley, kings park and perhaps the AQWA. We are leaving on the day 7 around 4pm flight.

Any ideas and feedback will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

having a second thoughts, will be better this way:

Day1 : Upon arrival check in CBD hotel and take a stroll in Kings Park and have dinner then rest.

Day2 : Go to caversham wildlife park or Fremantle then head to harvey hill farm stay after lunch

Day3 : Harvey Hill and its surrounding (Farm and fishing Dam)

Day4 : Harvey Hills to Margaret River (Looking at Pullman Bunker Bay Beach Resort) - Stop over Bunburry before heading to Resort

Day5 : Morning beach activities then sight seeing around margaret River (Anything that is suitable for kids?)

Day6: Depart from Margaret River stop over Busselton to CBD - Anything along the journey?

Day7: King Park and nearby shopping before check in airport for 4pm flight.

Your changes outlined in #1 are better in that you are not driving from airport to Harvey-never a good idea to go straight onto country roads from a flight.

You have a bit of flexibility with Days 2 and 7. Depending what day it was if either is Friday-Sunday then I would allocate the morning to strolling Fremantle. On those days the Fremantle Markets are open and the place is a buzz. Nice places around Bathers Beach, Fishing boat harbour, Round House etc. Then the other day could be a trip to Caversham- it is relatively close to the airport so can be done the morning before you leave.

I wouldn't bother calling into Bunbury as rather spend a little more time in Margaret River. You could stop in Busselton then on Day 6 head straight back to Perth in the afternoon.

Toddlers often like the river foreshore (carefully watched of course) so you could check out places such as Matilda Bay and Peppermint Grove. These are very pleasant spots for a picnic.

I think your second itinerary is better too.

Did you have a special reason for wanting to stop at Bunbury? Otherwise I agree with JeanPerth to stop at Busselton instead, maybe for lunch. There is a nice park with playground right near the Busselton Jetty (its 2 kilometres long, you can't miss it!) that would be good for a toddler.

We enjoyed a pleasant meal at the Equinox restaurant near the Jetty a few months ago. http://www.theequinox.com.au/

Pullman Bunker Bay Beach Resort is a nice (and comparatively expensive!) venue for overseas visitors in summer - most of the rooms are in separate houses and they take your luggage to your room in a golf cart. (Fine in summer but not so good in cold weather or rain!)

Happy planning.

Thanks jean and Kerry. Looks like the 2nd option is better. I learn from the web that bunburry have dolphin watch. Not very sure where else along the way that we can do a dolphin watch. Yet to check if rocking ham is along the route or far off though.

Thanks a bunch!
