Comfort Inn, Belair

We are arriving at Perth Airport (International arrivals) 1 am so have decided to stay at the above until morning. Can anyone tell us if there is airport transport to the Comfort Inn or would it be just as easy to hire a taxi to take us there? Thank you in advance for any information.

Comfort Inn Bel Eyre offers their own free airport transfers, so best contact them to arrange it.

Perth CBD is only just over 10km from the airport, and a good majority of hotels are 24hr operations, due to flights leaving at all hours. Is there any particular reason why you would want to stay a night out there? And by going to that hotel, you've already covered 3km of that distance. Personally, I'd go straight to the CBD and save yourself the hassle of moving the next day (which is a waste of a morning) - unless of course you have an early morning flight out of Perth.

I agree with KVE - the area surrounding the airport along Great Eastern Highway tends to be warehousing and light industrial, not the nicest place to stay. You have much better choices in the Perth city area which is only another 5 minutes by taxi.

On the other hand if you are heading straight back to the airport for another flight then it would make sense to stay as close as possible.

Much easier to head straight into the city.

That motel and many others along that stretch are of the "hourly kind" - if you get my drift.

Just for your information, the name "Bel Eyre" is an optimistic reference to both Mr Edward John Eyre the historic Australian explorer and the Eyre Highway (named after him.)

That particular stretch of Great Eastern Highway eventually links up with the Eyre Highway which leads across the Nullabor Plan to South Australia. Unfortunately the hotel is a lot closer to Western Australia's only legal casino and the associated "industries" - pawn shops etc.

Thank you everyone for your swift replies to my request - the reason we are staying at the Belair for the few hours is that we have friends picking us up between 10am and 12am in the morning who live in Parkwood. We did not want them to be coming for us at 1 am in the morning. Looking up the internet from Scotland this was the nearest we could find to the airport - however (although this is booked) if anyone can offer us advice on a different place to stay we would be much obliged.

The comment in #3 is totally incorrect. The Bel Eyre is perfectly respectable, part of the Comfort Inn chain and is frequently booked by mining companies and so on as a base for their staff when they need to stay near the city - my husband stayed there with the volunteer fire brigade when they came to the city for training.

I'd also be curious to know where the pawn shops and so on are as I travel that road nearly every day and have yet to see any sign of a red light district, etc!! I know they exist but they are hardly in your face.

Please don't give such a mistaken impression of a highway through a fairly nomal business area.

And in case you're still concerned, be aware that the casino is part of a 5-star resort complex.

I have friends who have stayed at the Bel Eyre. It is a very respectable motel and no issues at all with regards to "hourly rentals".

FWIW - your friends in Parkwood? It is literally a 15 minute drive to the International AIrport at that time of night so I would not be worried about inconveniencing them. I do know - I lived in Parkwood for 28 years and now only live a suburb away :-) Please do not book a motel without speaking to your friends - you may offend them.
