You can always do a search in the forum for Farmstays-quite a common question here.

Without driving it is going to be quite difficult to get to a Farmstays and you would be relying on lifts from owners along with some public transport. That could be quite difficult outside the metro area.

Here is an article about Farmstays which are relatively close to Perth.

There are a couple of Farmstays at Harvey. You could catch the Australind train and get off at Harvey then not sure how you would get to Farmstays. Also think about food situation - most Farmstays have chalet accommodation so you need to take your own food and cook your own.

Here are two in Harvey

Then one in Swan Valley ( again difficult public transport)

Hello!

Both Harvey farmstays are over 5km. You could get a taxi from the station in Harvey.A quick internet search seems to suggest that there is one available on 9729 1000. Alternatively, you could ask the farmstay owners to pick you up.

The Swan Valley farmstay is about 1km from a bus stop, but the bus is an infrequent, Monday-Friday peak-hour only service. You can view the bus timetable at …wa.gov.au/timetablepdfs/…2020130718.pdf (route 335). There is no other public transport in a reasonable walking distance (next nearest is 3.5km away).

www.waholidayguide.com.au/avondale-estate is 2km from the Toodyay train station (this is on the regional, not the metropolitan train network).

http://www.theolivebranchyork.com.au/ is 1.5km from the York long-distance (regional) bus stop.

But do confirm with the individual farmstays that you will be able to get to them, either _confirm_ the existence of a taxi or that they can pick you up from somewhere nearby. Otherwise you'll be feeling sorry for yourself sitting waiting for non-existent taxis or buses.

YorkFoodie, you are right...understand that transport will be a challenge since we don't intend to drive on our own. Trying to make some arrangements with the farm hosts.

Hi,

What is the best way to search for all available farm stays within 60mins drive from Perth City?

Was going to recommend using the WA TOurism website but they've changed it radically and now it's hard to find your way around. Mucked about with it a bit and found this

http://www.westernaustralia.com/en/search/Pages/Search.aspx#/search-params/?keywords=Perth%20Accommodation&kql=&startRow=0&rowLimit=20&sortExpression=&comparison=and&category=Accommodation&refinementFilter=[{%22property%22:%22ATDWProductTourismCategory%22,%22value%22:%22Accommodation%22},{%22property%22:%22ATDWProductTourismRegion%22,%22value%22:%22Experience%20Perth%22},{%22property%22:%22ATDWProductExperiences%22,%22value%22:%22Farm%20Stays%22,%22comparison%22:%22contains%22}]&eventType=&eventKeyword=&eventDateRange=

Hope it works because I can't easily recreate the steps I took to get there to tell you how to do it yourself.

Edit- Did a cut and paste with the URL and it worked, it's the best I can offer.

YorkFoodie, thank you very much for your help.

I figured out how you did it, and learnt something new i.e. this excellent search function by townships!

Very useful.

We're visiting Ferguson Farmstay for a few days. It's inland and further towards Bunbury from Rockingham. Any reason for you not hiring a car as you would get a much better experience by being able to see a bit more of the surrounding areas? Driving in WA is easy.
