Perth - worth the trip?

I have heard and read that Perth presents great wildlife experiences, natural and maritime history exhibits and opportunities to swim, dive and explore interesting places. What say all, worth the trip? Also any suggestions for small intimate B & B here? In a place where one may see wildlife at breakfast?

Preder small B & B, (as opposed to one with many rooms like an Inn and run by only employees as opposed to private owners). Immaculate a must. Thanks.

You mentioned maritime history so I’ll concentrate on watery activities:

Take a cruise downriver from Perth to Fremantle, explore the Fremantle markets and then wander along the cappuccino strip to the Maritime Museum. www.museum.wa.gov.au/maritime/

Be sure to visit the separate Shipwreck Gallery and learn the story of the famous Batavia.

Head north to Geraldton, stopping at the Pinnacles. From here you can go out to the Abrolhos Islands where the Batavia was lost. www.geraldtonau.com/thingstodo.html

From Perth you might want to go on a sea kayaking tour to Seal Island: www.rivergods.com.au/sea.html

Rottnest Island also offers diving, but it will be difficult to get accommodation there in January.
