hostels & hotels

Im planning my trip to New Zealand for Augest for 3 or 4 weeks, and I will be staying in mainly hostels and the odd hotel.I was just wondering, is there any need to book ahead with these or at this time of year is it usually quite easy to get rooms without booking before??

Thanks

There's something strange about the reviews on TA for City B & B. They're all dated consecutive days in January 2008.

You shouldn't have many problems at that time of year, especially if you are looking for dorm rooms in the hostels. Check out www.bbh.co.nz. The website has ratings for each hostel which from our experience were pretty accurate. Might be worth joining to get the member rates.

Unlike in Australia, the YHA hostels aren't such a good option as they tend to be older buildings. Having said that I could certainly recommend the YHA in Wellington.

An interesting spot there porge. Its also worth noting that only one of the 7 reviewers has ever posted anything else. Just the one review each and no forum posts. Makes you wonder.....

Interesting. Hopefully T/A readers will question why so many one time reviewers suddenly have an impulse to post a review on consecutive days. Several one time reviewers seem to be getting the urge to write about their experiences...let's hope it is because they have enjoyed a fantastic experience and not because of any other reason.

As to the question about booking accommodation in August..it should be okay unless there is a special event on in the place you choose to stay. It may be wise to do a bit of research and check the places you are visiting on google.

There's an easy answer to that, report your findings to TA and they will investigate and have been known to remove false reviews. No flies on us, eh? ;)
