Hi HV,

NZ has many motel accommodation properties, including those with a 2 bedroom unit/apartment. Motels are fully self-contained with a kitchen/kitchenette (cooking facilities) bathrooms, some with separate bedrooms, offstreet parking, onsite laundries. Motels offer a breakfast service and may also operate an attached restaurant. NZ motels are of a very good/high standard, and can be found in all the cities/major towns and near scenic attractions.

Jasons - www.jasons.com, and the Automobile Association - http://www.aa.co.nz/travel, would be your best sources for motel information, 2 br apartments/villas/units etc. Also review www.wotif.com for special deals on NZ accommodation. If staying put in one location, renting a holiday home would be the way to go - www.holidayhomes.co.nz

Happy planning.

As mentioned above, www.wotif.com offers the best accommodation discounts. You might want to look at motels and backpackers. You could share a dorm room for even greater savings.

Happy travels :)

Many bed and breakfasts have two rooms that share a bathroom, or may discount for two rooms. And you do get breakfast. Many motels do not provide breakfast and if they do it can be very very expensive. So do ask.

Check out www.bnb.co.nz and www.bedandbreakfast.com

Motels with kitchens will have small fridges, microwaves and usually a cooktop and oven. If you wish to travel more cheaply take advantage of the opportunity to make your own breakfast, a packed lunch and even cook a main meal. Buy a cheap 'chillibin' and a couple of ice packs so you can take milk, spreads bread etc with you. Most motel units are not 2 bedrooms so you might want to book ahead. Some 1 bedroom units also have a fold out sofa double bed in the lounge if you cant find a 2 bedroom unit. Travelbug is another source of information simliar to the aa and Jasons.
