Cruising around New Zealand in November.

We are going on a cruise taking in the main ports of call, but we do not want to be restricted by the Cruise Liners itinerary. Have any travellers made their own way from the Docks and found it easy to get to the main attractions. There will be 3 of us in the party.

Thanks

hi ddiris,i cant speek for the other cities but if your cruise comes to Napier, you will have no problems, the port is only a few minutes walk from the city centre, taxis are available by phone and taxi stands,Auckland port is virtually in the city centre, i cant forsee any problems getting around,if you could let us know which cities your cruise calls into we can be of more help with transport/attractions, also a time frame for your stops would be of help

Hi John,

We are calling in to one port daily starting with Port Chalmers, Christchurch, Wellington, Napier, Tauranga, Auckland and Bay of Islands. Mostly we will be off the ship by 8 - 8.30 and return to the ship by 5.30pm.

Napier is only 8 - 2 pm and Bay of Islands 8 - 3.30pm. So will have to make the most of our time there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi

In Auckland if you wanted to stay in the city then you could use the hop on hop off Explorer Bus:

www.explorerbus.co.nz

or the link bus

www.maxx.co.nz/link-bus-services.aspx

If you wanted to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery that is under an hour from the ferry terminal then you could take a trip. Have a look at:

www.coast2coastnz.com

www.bushandbeach.co.nz

www.absolutetours.co.nz

Enjoy your cruise

Which port are you using for Christchurch. I believe that many cruise ships have changed from Lyttelton to Akaroa because of the earthquakes. Neither are very close to Chch city.
