How far in advance should I book flights?

Hiya,

We and the missus are planning 3 weeks in NZ in november. I was just wondering is it worth booking the flights now, or leave it for another few months? Would there much difference in prices?

Many thanks in advance,

Tom

Generally fares are better the further ahead you book.

Sorry, meant to add also that it is worth shopping around and there can be significant differences in costs between airlines depending on routes etc.

Air New Zealand have a sale on at the moment.

If you see a fare you like - book it - as it probably will get dearer once sale is over. We've booked ours and now I don't bother to look at prices as I'm happy with what we paid.

Korean Air are usually reasonable too. http://www.koreanair.com/

However you get there, enjoy your holiday.

Go for it Tom, there's nothing to gain by waiting for prices to fall, they rarely do. Have a good look at what options you've got with different airlines. If you've got extra time available it might be worth looking into a short stopover to try to break up the jet lag a little. LA could be possible with Air New Zealand, whilst Singapore is an example if you were travelling the other way with Emirates.
