Do you really mean an all-inclusive hand-held COACH tour like this:

contiki.com/destinations/new-zealand/tours

or a Ho-ho bus like these:

You might consider renting a car or campervan. If you limit your driving to a few hours a day, it is easy to get around, the roads are in fantastic condition and it also allows you to see and visit places you might have otherwise missed. Bear in mind, Kiwis drive on the left side of the road and this does take some time getting used to the different rules; round-a-bouts, give-way...

Try 'The Great New Zealand Bus Tour'. Smaller groups/cheaper than most and they take you to a lot of places that others don't go to.

Many in bound /outbound tourist operators who sub contract their services often are in a position to provide better deals than if one goes to a bus company direct. In the first instance I would go to a couple of local travel agents in your local town and get some quotes on what is on offer. This will give you an indicative costing of your trip, standard of accommodation and extras provided. Many of these tourist operators use the same companies and have over the years built up a good rapport with them, hence good deals.

What you need to assured of when coming from afar is that you are dealing with reputable operators who will provide a good service and if things do go pear shaped as they do from time to time you have a reputable outfit to fall back on and help resolve your issues. It may be a little more expensive but really not significant when put in the overall scheme of things when related to the total cost of the holiday.

I've just finished a trip with KIWI EXPERIENCE! They have a ton of trip options varying in location/time you have available!

I had a great time - met some awesome people. They also guarantee accommodation at each stop (you can also book your own and they drop you off/collect you from there) & when on the coach they send a form round where you can just put your name to do activities and discounted rates!

It's such a great way of seeing New Zealand and getting the best out of it rather than worrying about where to go or what to do or having to book your next leg of the journey!
