19 day Honeymoon

Hi all,

Have a 19 day trip to NZ booked for our honeymoon in October this year. Fly into Auckland and out Christchurch..going to do both islands....any suggested pre-prepared itineries that are online?

Also, looking for 1 night in a luxury hotel, ideally in the south island somewhere...give the wife a break from the campervan!!

Thanks for help, much appreciated!

Hi,

We are an active couple - keen to do kayaking, rafting etc...thinking about visiting coromandel peninsula from auckland, then rotorua..waitomo caves, tangariro pass...then ferry from wellington to picton...abel tasman...glaciers..milford sound....somehow need to put this into an itinery! Happy to do free camping, as we have a camper reserved with that capability...would like to get into the wilderness a bit...

What are the recommended vineywards?

Thanks for guidance

Congratulations on your honeymoon :)

There are a high number of itineraries posted here on the forum which will help get you started. 19 days is a good number of days but you will find you might want longer to achieve your wish list, especially in a relatively slow moving campervan.

You will find freedom camping sites difficult to find, particularly in the South Island, as regulations have changed due to the filthy habits of some campers. There is now a $200 fine for illegal camping.

DOC campsites offer excellent locations in some remote areas for low cost. Check this link http://www.camping.org.nz/

To cover your wish list for the South Island, you will need a minimum of;

1 ferry to Picton, drive to Nelson

2 drive to Abel Tasman National Park

3 explore

4 drive to Punakaiki

5 drive to Franz or Fox

6 explore

7 drive to Wanaka

8 drive to Te Anau

9 explore Milford Sound, stay Te Anau - possibly by bus if snow/ice on road

10 drive to Queenstown

11 explore

12 drive to Aoraki/Mt Cook or Tekapo

13 drive to Chch, fly out

Once you have confirmed your route we can help with luxury hotels, vineyards etc.

Happy planning :)
