Season advice!

We are planning on our first vacation to new zealand. Which season or months would be more comfortable for a family vacation in terms of both better weather and lesser prices?

Thanks in advance

Where do you come from and when can you take family holidays? January & Feb are the peak summer months for weather & tourists, however March & April can often offer great settled weather (this year "too dry" for the farmers). July & August are the peak months for skiing. This leaves May & June as early winter "off-season" with shorter days & higher likelihood of rain; and Sept-Dec as spring, with days getting longer & warmer. Spring colours are lovely - bright green in the fields, colourful spring flowers, still snow on the mountain tops....

Hi

We live in New york and have two kids of ages between 8-10. We are roller coaster enthusiast but are quite new to the outdoor adventure activities of New zealand. We are mainly interested in the scenic splendours that the country has to offer. We were wondering if November during thanksgiving would be comfortable time to visit?

Thanks

Nov can be lovely with summer temps heating up - this last Nov was brilliant and hot here in sunny Nelson. Or Nov can be lingering winter temps with late snow flurries on the mountains plus spring rain across the country. Or you get flucuations - all 4 seasons in one day, so you will never be bored !

April can have lovely settled weather and the autumn colours in Wanaka and Arrowtown are stunning. However the first frosts will appear in the central inland regions and the nights will be crisp once the sun sinks low.

Both seasons have strong positives, few negatives. Enjoy :)

If the above is true? Queenstown should see you well satisfied as a base with more activities than you can possibly imagine.

Try right now, the weather is great, the rates for most things are discounted. And the autumn colours are starting to appear.
