Pacific Horizon Motor Homes in receivership

Pacific Horizon Motor Homes have been put into receivership. Newspaper reports indicate that they will complete existing contracts and cease trading as soon as they are fulfilled.

As a consequence if you have monies owing at the end of your hire ensure that you get it back before leaving the premises or else you could end up being an unsecured creditor.

Thanks for that info. We are booked for 9th August, Grandparents, parents with 1yr old & 3 year old boys . Hope we are not stranded without transport especially as we have the little ones with us. . We have been planning this trip for a while now. Coming over from Australia to celebrate our meeting in Wellington 40 years ago! Taking a little trip down memory lane.

It's time to check your travel insurance and credit card operator.

It looks like the bubble following the RWC has burst. When Kea, United and Maui combined (Tourism holdings bought the other out) the business pages said there was an over supplt of vans. I never used Pacific Horizon but they seemed to have very nice larger vehicles.

It also seems to be such a seaosnal business! Everybody wants vans in the summer time and then they sit around the parking lots in the winter. I notice it everytime I fly into CHC, where all the rental vehicles sit in paddocks down Harewood Rd.

So very disappointed to receive an email today to advise that our booking had been cancelled for our Motorhome which has been booked in since April. We now discover that we can't get a 6 berth motorhome for our Sept/Oct 2013 trip. My kids are just so very disappointed.... Wish we had been advised sooner.

It would be great if the motorhome rental places could relocate some motorhomes from the South Island to the North Island during the Sept/October 2013 school holiday period. Us poor families are already really stretched and now missing out on all the good deals as well as not being able to get a motorhome for a large adult family is very very disappointing indeed.

We listed the info on TA as soon as it was made public. We couldn't do anymore. Receiverships and liquidations are no fun for anyone

Hi All,

We received an email today from Pacific Horizon as well, telling us that our booking had been cancelled, we had booked for our October trip back in December of last year and had previously used them when on our honeymoon in November 2011. We found them to be very helpful and the camper was well appointed and comfortable, such a shame this has happened to them. We found out about Pacific Horizon's Receivership purely by accident in Mid July. We had booked a GEM camper with them. We have now luckily managed to book with Wilderness, in their Escape 4, although it has cost us an additional NZ$1500. We found wilderness to be very helpful, responded to our emails very quickly and we are very much looking forward to exploring the South island in October!!!
