day 3: drive Hokitika to Franz Josef- 2 nights with Heli/Hike

day 5: Drive & stay Wanaka 2 nights

day 7: drive to Te Anau, 2 nights- Trips and Tramps tour to Milford Sound

day 8: Drive to Queenstown- 3 nights

day 11: Fly CHC, drive to Kaikoura, overnight

day 12: Drive to Picton, 2 nights

day 14: Ferry to Wellington, 2 nights

day 16: Drive to Martinborough, 3 nights

day 19: Drive to Hawthorne House, Hastings, 2 nights

day 21: Drive to Rotorua, lunch Lake Taupo, 2 nights

day 23: Drive Auckland, 2 nights

The North Island section looks great, with plenty of time for significant wine tasting! I'm pleased to see you've allowed time for a full day's sightseeing in Wellington too. I'll leave comments on the South Island for SI people.

This looks great & shows the benefits of having more than 3 weeks, and some internal flighTs to enable you to relax & have lots of 2-3 night stays.
