I am considering a 2 week trip (I'm aware that a lot of people don't think 2 weeks is long enough, but I can not take any longer) to New Zealand sometime in the first 1/2 of 2014. I'm a female in my mid 30's and will probably be traveling solo. I'd like some advice on the following:
- Is it too late to start planning a trip for February, March, or April?
- I'm interested in hiking the Milford Track - it looks like permits to hike the track aren't available until late March/early April - is April a good time of year to visit NZ? Should I plan my trip around the Milford Track or are there other hikes that are just a good/better to do instead?
