Cricket World Cup

Hi All,

Very early days of planning.

I will be Cricket World Cup games in February 2015 (Wellington on 20/02, Christchurch on 23/03 and Dunedin on 26/02).

Is this feasible without flying everywhere?

What is the best way to move between these places (and probably back to Wellington for the flight back to the U.K)?

Looking to squeeze the whole trip into two weeks, probably landing Wellington on 18/02

Welcome - I think you are the first of the ICC visitors to ask a question.

You can get from Wellington to Chch in 1 or 2 days by taking the ferry (Interislander or Bluebridge - roughly 3:30hr) to Picton and the TransCoastal train or a bus to Chch. Another option would be Wlg to Picton to Kaikoura in one day and then bus or train to Chch on the 22nd. Kaikoura is a pretty seaside town famous for its marine mammals, mainly whale - watching; swimming with dolphins or fur seals.

Christchurch to Dunedin is 5-6 hours by bus (options are Intercity, Naked Bus or Atomic Shuttles). If you want to stop somewhere inbetween Oamaru has interesting Edwardian architecture & a nightly penguin-watching. Otherwise, if you spent a free day in Dunedin you would find lots to do.

Not sure why you don't want to fly, but flying can sometimes work out cheaper. Www.grabaseat.co.nz

Get your accommodation in Christchurch booked early, they are already starting to worry about capacity.
