Hello. My family of 4 is traveling to NZ - North first, then South between March 28 and April 18, starting in Auckland, and ending/flying out of Christchurch.
We live in Colorado, where it was 22 degrees celsius today, with a complete change of a high of 7 tomorrow, with possible rain/sleet/snow. We're pretty hardy folks. BUT, we also have 300 days of sunshine per year, LOVE the warmth, and are DYING for some beach time.
We have 3 days planned in Hahei on Coromandel upon our arrival, then to mid-island sights and ending in Wellington on Day 7.
South Island - Then, it's on to Nelson in the south island for about a week - allowing ourselves some time to relax, and spend many days exploring Abel Tasman and the areas in between Nelson and the park...
Many questions, here: Do you think we'll be able to swim (pool) at all when in Nelson? We're assuming we'll need wetsuits to do any kayaking, dolphin swims, etc in the south, as well as warm clothes when heading down the east coast to Kaikoura/Christchurch. But, should we expect to be too cold for coastal activities in the north island, as well --- up on Coromandel?
