Driving Arthurs Pass?

Hi,

Really appreciate any help on this. Currently visiting a friend in CHCH but was thinking of hiring a car and having a couple of days on the west coast of South Island on Tues/Wed. Any idea what the roads are like on the way there? I'm nervous of snow!!!!

Thank you!

Might be best to visit Kaikoura instead.

sun evening it is currently snowing. most likely to be chain essential , closed to towing monday, but the roads should be clear of restrictions for tues wed. dont get on the road too early. ensure that you have chains and that you know how to fit them. chances are you wont need them. do not drive in a manner which causes any g force in any direction ( cornering, accelerating or braking.
