Best geothermal site to visit

Hi

We are wanting to get the best experience of geothermal wonders in and around Rotorua. Is there one place that you can see a lot of variety in geothermal experiences (geysers, mud pools, colourful lakes)?

Thanks

Wai-o-tapu is generally considered to be one of the best. It is outside Rotorua so you need a car or a tour to get there. At 10:15 every morning they add detergent to make the Lady Knox Geyser erupt, so it is worth getting there on time. It takes about 75-90 minutes to walk around the full circuit of the park, or a shorter loop can be done in under an hour if you are in a hurry.

My favourite geyser is Pohutu, which is at Te Puia, but can be seen from the free public lookout at the end of Fenton St.
