Stop over after NZ vacation

My family and I will be visiting NZ next spring, flying through Los Angeles, then back to the east coast where we live. My question is if we should stop overnight in LA on the way home, to help with jet lag or just fly the remaining 5 hours home. Does anyone have any experience with this? When I flew to Hawaii several years ago, I stopped in San Francisco for 2 nights on the way back before flying the rest of the way to the east coast and it seemed to help with adjusting to the change in time zones, but for this trip, I'm debating if it would be worth it.

No wrong answer I guess.

I am the type that once I start a long flight I simply want to get to the end with no delays. And when home is just 5 hours away, I would keep on going.

as for that extra night - I would spend it in NZ!

but perhaps you might find a night in LA beneficial.

best of luck :)

But having to deal with LAX twice? I wouldn't bother.

I avoid US airports as much as possible. If I wanted to break the journey I'd consider maybe in the Cook Islands or French Polynesia. A couple of days in Rarotonga could be rather nice, but I believe there is only a direct flight Raro - LAX on Saturdays.

I agree with WLNZ. Once im on the trip home just keep going, especially only 5 hours.

saves all the hassle of collecting luggage, customs, security, checking in, transfers, unpacking. Nah - just keep going home!

Unless you wanted to spend a couple of days at disneyland or similar. And then that would be real fun way to finish up. Im still a kid at heart and still love it.

It seems unanimous- to just fly the rest of the way home. That's what I was leaning toward. Thanks everyone for your opinions!
