Dining-SkyTower Orbit Restaurant

Anybody actually eaten a dinner up there?

There will be 6 of us on our last night in NZ after a 4 week tour of Aus/NZ. Would it be worth it for a special send off?

The views over Auckland are magnificent. That in its self will make it special. The food in my opinion is just okay. The night I was there it was extremely busy. You may have better luck if you dine early.

We have eaten there - a place you go for the view rather than the food.

Hi Traveltwinkie,

We have eaten at the Observatory recently and could find no fault withn the food. It is a buffet with alot of seafood but other options as well and you get your entry to the sky tower for free and can also get your car parking ticket validated (reduced)

It does not move but the views are great and you can walk around.

The Orbit moves and is a la carte so more expensive but the views are to die for especially on a good day/night.

Food average - views outstanding. Look up restaurants around the viaduct - nicer eating with views of the harbour and great people watching.
