Auckland --- Rotorua

Hi,

I'm planning a trip, thinking of staying for a few days in Auckland and would like to go on a Maori Hangi dinner and performance show,-- pick-up point is in Rotorua (then staying there over/nt )

Would like to hear your opinions on best way to get there, is it best by train?

Also any particular sites l should see?

Thanks.

Hi

Unfortunately it is not possible to get from Auckland to Rotorua by train. Our rail network is not extensive and the principal means of transport between places is by bus.

Have a look at:

www.intercity.co.nz

Hi

Would you rent a car??? There is so much to see and do on the way to Rotorua. For instance there is www.hobbitontours.com at Matamata where some of the filming of Lord of the Rings was. You would need to stay there over night to experience a Maori Hangi, so much accommodation in Rotorua.

Thanks for your reply's,

I have been doing some research and l think hiring a car is the better way to go, there seem to be a lot of things to see about the Maori culture and may be worth staying there for two or three days withpossibly checking out some other places on the way, is it quite an easy drive to get there?
