Copthorne Hotel Auckland, HarbourCity safe good spot stay?

This Millennium Hotels property in Auckland is within 1 km of New Zealand National Maritime Museum, Princes Wharf, and Sky Tower. Auckland Art Gallery is also within 10 km of the property.

That's what it's close too, can anyone recommend this area? Safe? Good for tourist things in Auckland? Thanks as always trip advisor!

Kia Ora Braveheart,

The downtown Auckland area is as safe as our city fathers and service agencies can make it. It certainly isn't a bad area or one that receives media attention for crime risk. During the day-time the innercity waterfront area is active with shoppers, office workers, visitors and traffic movements. The hotel outlook is very pleasant, especially if you can secure the upper level rooms for a harbour view. Princess Wharf and the Hilton is directly opposite the Copthorne. So too is the Maritime Museum where the Explorer bus and I-Site information centre are located. Around the corner is the Viaduct harbour with lots of eateries. A little hike uphill to Skytower - past office towers again, and other hotels. Do visit St Patricks Square on your way - a green oasis in the city!

Take a cab if you don't wish to venture out at night. General common sense if alone at night.

Copthorne is surrounded by shopping including duty-free, quality goods, convenience stores, souvenirs. And the ferries to Devonport, Waiheke Is, Rangitoto Is and others are located directly opposite also. Auckland Art Gallery and others - take the Link bus that runs up Queen St, or the FREE skycity bus that circuits the city & departs from the nearby Railway Station.

Have fun!
