Both should be OK

rental-car is USave.

Check on the age of the car and what they are charging for a one way hire. Also will they charge to collect you from the airport and take you to their depot. Some charge far too much in my opinion for this service. And your arrival time will have to be considered. Both are fairly close to Auckland airport and have been around for a time.

thank you very much, will make cost enquiries as you suggest. Our flight arrives at midday at Auckland, and we did think we might take a taxi to our first night in town and then pick up the car the next day when we are marginally less exhausted.

Collecting the car the next day sounds like a great idea to me. Depending where you are staying for your first night manycompanies will collect you from your accomodation. I do know that USave in Stanley street, Auckland city will do this for free. Or they used to, you just have to ask.

Enjoy our country and have agreat drive.

Hi HB,

You may wish to reconsider taking a taxi from the airport into Auckland city, in favour of using the Airbus which only charges $15.00 per person from the airport (both terminals). Downtown ferry terminal is its final destination - taxis from here, if your hotel is not on the actual Airbus route. Or organise a Shuttle pickup from airport to hotel door - second most affordable option - www.airbus.co.nz/home

A recent comment from one traveller who said that NZ$80.00 for a cab from airport to Auckland city hotel was expensive, and doesn't compare fvourably with the more affordable options had he known the Airbus or Shuttles existed. Airbus has a very regular service during daytime - I note your arrival would fit with this option. Where are you staying in the city?

we are staying in Hepburn st, Ponsonby for our first night - taxi cost seems very expensive, what is our best and most cost-effective option to get to this address? We will be picking up a hire car the following day downtown.

Our taxi from near the Sky Tower to the airport was about $40.

Im not sure id want to be driving next day after arriving from the UK. I well recall us being 'ready for bed' by about 4 in the afternoon! A tired driver is a dangerous driver!
