Observatory Restaurant Sky Tower

Have a reservation for the Observatory Restaurant, how formal is it? Will hubby need a jacket, or will shirt suffice? Thanks.

I had lunch at the restaurant back in November. The dress was casual. The view was amazing.

Hi

"Smart Casual" which does not necessarily include a jacket would be fine. Restaurants in general in New Zealand are far less formal than in many other parts of the world.

Your husband would even be fine wearing a nice T-shirt and a tidy pair of jeans. Like LoneKauriLodge said, we are generally quite informal here in NZ. At most NZ restaurants, the only things men really shouldn't wear out to dinner are singlets, ripped or dirty clothing, clothing with offensive or intimidating slogans and short shorts. My husband also prefers not to wear jandals (flip flops) out to dinner, but will often wear them out to lunch. Hope this helps.
