DFO/Shopping Centres in Auckland District

Hi All,

I have been told by a friend who visited Auckland in 2006 there is a good shopping centre with discounted prices/good bargains, like a factory outlet.

Can anyone who has visited or lives nearby please advise the name of the Shopping Centre ? Also, is it worth visiting.

We arrive at the end of this month but are only in Auckland for 3 nights (2 full days)

Thanks heaps :)

The outlet shopping centre you are thinking of is Dressmart which is situated in the suburb of Onehunga. Yes it is definitely worth visiting. If you google Dressmart Auckland you can find their website

Thanks for your quick response.

Will have a look now :)

Is public transport (buses) the best option to get to the Shopping Centre?

Best transport option depends on where in Auckland you are staying - let us know and we can advise. There is also a good train service to Onehunga if you are close to a train station where you are staying.

Whilst in Onehunga, try to allow a couple of hours to have a stroll round Cornwall Park/ One Tree Hill - well worth the effort.

Could anyone please advise in comparison to say DFO in Sydney or CityGate Tung Chung in Hong Kong, is Dress-Smart worth the visit?

Have got approx 4hrs between flights in Auckland next week - international then domestic.

(personally DFO Sydney is a 'take visitors there' only kind of place!)

Havent been to either but it more than compares with Harbourtown on the Gold Coast and would be almost on par with the DFO at Brisbane Airport

Disagree bean. Compared to Harbourtown and DFO Brisbane Airport, Dressmart is a very poor last. I thought it was the pits.

To answer your question expatkiwiwairoa, I wouldn't take visitors there. The selection is poor and the prices don't match a Rebel Sport continuous sale. That's my opinion for what it's worth.

Thanks guys for the feedback

We only have 2 full days in Auckland and was thinking the hop on/hop off and sight seeing 1 day, then an island tour the next.

If the bus heads past dresssmart we might have a quick look.

Apparently there is another shopping centre called shopsavvy, is this any good?? worth the trip?
