a day in Auckland - what to do?

Hello, my husband and I have a day stop over on the way to LA - arrive 6am and depart 7pm - and was thinking of doing a half day Auckland Highlights Tour, from 9am - 1pm and then what? Probably need to aim to be back in the airport lounge around 4pm - any recommendations would be welcome.

- Ferry to Devonport for late lunch or afternoon tea?

- Cab back to airport via Villa Maria winery for late lunch and wine tasting?

- Cab back to airport via Mt Eden shops and eateries?

I vote for the ferry to Devonport - but what is included in the tour?

Walking round the Viaduct Basin looking at the yachts is lovely on a fine day, and good for the lungs before a long flight!

The Devonport ferry ride is barely 10 minutes each way, and is a good opportunity to get onto our harbour. Follow this return trip up with a stroll around Viaduct harbour and over to the newer Wynyard Quarter.
