Hells Gate Mud Bath and Spa

our itinerary is:(4 adults)

arriving Rotorua around 5pm on 22Mar from Wellington,

leaving Rotorua for Auckland on 24March(need to leave no later than 10am)

could you please give us some advise how we can fit all this into the time we are there?

the visit to Tepuia, does it include the visit to Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley, National Carving, Weaving and Pounamu Schools, Kiwi House, Rotowhio Marae,Daytime concerts ?

I understand the Lady Knox Geyser at 10:15, how about the Pohutu?

I think it could be hard to fit all in. we decided to give up the trip to geothermal wonderland.

could you please advise if we could fit it in and what order we should do this?

I don't see how you can do all of that in the time alotted. We just returned from three weeks in New Zealand. Rotorua is amazing but time is required to investigate the sites. Yes, the 10:15 eruption is like clockwork and packed! There are others that explode every hour and are impressive.

Visiting the geothermal pools takes time too. The weather has been nice as of late. When we were there two weeks ago, it was brisk - think 19 degrees or so. Good luck and enjoy

If you leave Wellington early enough you may still be able to visit Waiotapu on your way to Rotorua although you will have missed the LadyKnox Geyser display at 10.15p.m. The last entry is at 3.45p.m. and it closes at 5p.m. You are then approximately 20 minutes south of Rotorua.

You could visit the Polynesian Spa after you have checked in at your accommodation and had a light meal at one of the many restaurants. It is open until 11 p.m. and it would be rather nice to soak there and then go home to bed. The best time NOT to visit is from about 5 until 7 when many of the passengers on tour buses also visit for there hot pool therapy.

The next morning you could go to Te Puia for the 10.15 concert. There is a kiwi house here and the Maori Arts & Craft centre. Pohutu geyser plays irregularly so just hope it has been raining and you should get a reasonable display.

After Te Puia you could drive to the Agrodome and take the 1.30 organic farm tour and the sheep show at 2.30 then head back to the Skyline Gondola & luging where you can dine at the restaurant. Depending on the weather, twilight luging may still be available.

For opening & closing times, google the places you want to visit and check on the websites.

Unfortunately you will probably not be able to fit in Hells Gate but after Te Puia you could stop at Kuirau Park on your way to the Agrodome and walk around the steaming lake , hot pools, foot baths & gardens at no cost. Near Kuirau Park,Ohinemutu Maori village is worth a visit.

Have a great time.....you are only scratching the surface of Rotorua as there is a lot to do and see!
