Maori Cultural Shows/Dinner

I will be spending 1.5 days in Rotorua and will like to visit one of the Maori Cultural Shows and dinner. There are several options available:

1) Tamaki Maori Village

2) Whakarewarewa Thermal Village

3) Te Puia

4) Mitai Maori Village

Which of these is recommended? Thanks in advance!

The combo package at Mitai, the last time I went, was great. We also saw three kiwi as well as other nocturnal wildlife on the nature walk at Rainbow Springs. The hangi dinner was a good, filling meal.

Whakarewarewa Thermal Village recommended by Global-Travels is a day performance and does not include a hangi dinner.. You also get only a distant view of Pohutu Geyser but if you go to Te Puia, you are able to view the geysers at a safe but much closer distance.

Half the fun of Tamaki is the bus trip to the village.

Mitai, Te Puia & Tamaki all provide an evening dinner inclusive package.

View them all on line and then decide what are the most important aspects to you.

Generally speaking, how long is the journey to the Tamaki village?

ne_quine... Tamaki usually pick up passengers and return to their depot to readjust passenger loadings on buses before going out to Tamaki Village. It is about a 20 minute ride out to the village from Fenton Street. Depending on what time your show is starting, you may be at the depot for sometime..

Global- Travels. Whakarewarewa Thermal Village does not have a hangi dinner as part of their package, whereas the other three companies do. Logapluslogb asked for a cultural show plus dinner. WTV close at approximately 5.30 p.m.

The larger hotels such as Holiday Inn have performances but usually with hotel buffet dinners and not hangi cooked meals. Novotel, Ibis, Holiday Inn, Millenium provide Maori Cultural Shows.
