30yr old female travelling alone in Wellington- what to do?

Hi everyone,

Ill be travelling to Wellington in April for around 5 days alone.

I'm into food, wine and diving but am generally open to most activities.

i'm probably a bit old to be staying at Backpackers but was interested to know if there's any activities/tours/pubcrawls that I could join where a 30yr old wouldn't feel totally out of place!

Thanks in advance

Erin

What are your interests? Don't miss Zealandia Sanctuary for NZ birds (free shuttle bus from the iSite and from the top of the Cable Car. Also don't miss Te Papa, our national museum.

I dont think you would be out of place at The YHA hostel in Courtney Place. It caters for all types even families. What it will do is give you a great spring board around the corner into the hub of Wellington's night life. It also give ready access to other more sedate activities like Te Papa. Courtney Place starts rocking later in the evening and goes through the wee small hours. I am sure you will find something of interest there

Thanks guys!

Those food tours look great but $255 seems like a lot for a walking tour.

Will definitely scope out the YHA.

Cheers

$255 will buy you three meals at NZ's finest restaurants all of which have been voted best restaurant in NZ within past 5 years - Matterhorn, Martin Bosley's and Logan Brown. I know what I would rather do.

If you don't mind staying just outside Wellington (20mins) I definitely recommend Moana Lodge in Plimmerton http://www.moanalodge.co.nz/

It's the best place we stayed at in New Zealand!

It's very very freindly but it's not a place for pub crawls though, although there's a nice fish and chip shop near by! :)

I don't know about diving but an activity I really enjoyed was "Adrenaline Forest" in Porirua between Plimmerton and Wellington http://www.adrenalin-forest.co.nz/wellington also definitely don't miss Te Papa!

Wellington is fantastic for food - you could make a good start by wandering Cuba Street from one end to the other, and there are various good places to eat dotted around Courtney Place and on most streets from there to the railway station - with Nikau hidden in behind the Civic centre. If you're into coffee, then Wellington's your town.

Join the Meetup web site (Meetup.com) and take a look at the Wellington Wonders group and the Wellington Fusion group to name two. They have loads of friendly events on and I'm sure you'd be very welcome
