Must I apply for International Driving Permit?

Hi,

Is it compulsory to apply for IDP in order to rent a car or drive in south island? Thank you for your help.

Cheers

Hi Jen :)

Is your current driver's license in English? Then you can use your Singapore license. if it isn't in English you will need an IDP or an English translation of your license.

As long as you have a full, valid and current driving license from your country, that is written in English, then you don't need an IDP.

If its not in English, then you need an IDP or an 'approved' translation of your license (this isn't the same as you just translating it and typing it out)
