Hi All ... we (2 of us) are planning to spend about a max of 10 days in NZ end of mac h ... should we spend 1-2 days in north and then spend the balance in south or should we only go to south in which case we will spend 7 nights there .. pls also give the places we must visit ... would the glacier region be worth a visit ...

Welcome to the forum :)

I'm confused with your maths - a maximum of 10 days, all spent in the South Island, gives you just 7 nights? - how?

If you have 10 days then you can do a circular tour Christchurch, the glaciers, Wanaka, Queenstown (and Milford Sound), Aoraki/Mt Cook and back to Chch.

With only 7 nights means you go Chch to Queenstown then fly back to Chch for the flight out of the country.

1 to 2 days will not allow you to see anything of the most touristic parts of the North Island. You would see Auckland city and maybe a little bit of the surrounding countryside, and that would be it. You would be better off going direct to the South Island and spending all your time there.
