Is this itinery ok? May 2013 in a maui motorhome

Hi everyone

thanks for your feedback. we have come up with a new itinery based on your reccomendations

day 1 pick up motorhome in christchurch 8am drive to Hokitika via arthurs pass with a hike to devils punchbowl hiking track in arthurs pass.

day 2 drive hokitika to franz josef glacier

day 3 drive franz josef glacier to wanaka

day 5 wanaka to queenstown

day 6 day trip from queenstown to milford sound with great tours company

day 7 day exploring queenstown

day 8 queenstown to mount cook

day 9 mount cook to drive to christchurch return motorhome 4pm

now somewhere in there we can have an extra day somewhere or an additional stop on the way. I was thinking maybe at the glaciers but we dont have any wish to climb on the glaciers due to an exsisting knee injury my husband has so would this be wasted time there?

thanks for your advice we truly appreciate it

What do you mean is this itinerary okay? - it's the one I suggested you do, of course it's okay, lol

Where to spend an extra day? Wanaka or Queenstown - lots to do in both places. Or do a self-drive wine tour while driving Wanaka to Q'town!

Enjoy :)

How much time do you have in Chch after you return your campervan or is the extra night BEFORE you drop the van? Have you thought of adding Akaroa or time in Chch?

thanks for your feedback

WanakaLakes sorry my title probably wasnt worded correctly It was defeintly a wonderful itinery you suggested :)

Zhuhai2007 we are staying the night in christchurch before flying home the next morning so we wont have much time there. We thought it best to avoid the area due to the damage from the earthquakes. As we have never been to New Zealand before we arent sure what to do in Christchurch. Would you reccomend a night there with the motorhome somewhere near christchurch before returning the motorhome the night before we fly out?

It would be a bit of a shame not to have a look around Christchurch. It's not often you can see a city rising up from the rubble in this part of the world. What time is your flight out? There are campgrounds near the airport or seeing as you have a contained van, perhaps ven the Papanui Club in sawyers Arms Rd
