My family of 4 will be driving in South Island in July. Christchurch-Kaikoura-Arthur's Pass-FJ Glacier-Wanaka-Qtn-Dunedin-Chch.
We just spoke with a friend who lived in NZ some years ago. He was very surprised that we are going there in winter and alluded to the fact that it will almost certainly be raining incessantly and we will definitely be miserable. We are not afraid of the cold, being used to the harsh Korean winter temperatures of -10 to -20 degress Celsius, but the idea of a totally rained in 2-week holiday is very unsettling. We will of course bring ponchos & umbrellas, but still .... !!
Can anyone offer me some solace ?? :-)
