styrofoam coolers

Knowing that New Zealand is a green country thought I'd better ask -- are small styrofoam coolers to carry in the car easily available or do we need to plan on a picnic basket without ice?.

Hi,

The Kiwis call coolers "Chilly Bins" we call the Eskys here in OZ. The foam ones are useless as seats at the cricket.

Cheers,

Chilly bins are readily available. The most common used in NZ have plastic outer and inside shells. They are definitely required with ice slicks in summer to carry food.

Thank you. We couldn't find any in 1995 and the others were very high. Now I will know what to ask for!The fruits and dairy products and honey and bread were so good.
