Motorhome or car/motels in July for 2 weeks

Hi there

We are planning a 2 week holiday in the South Island, 2 couples and wanting to travel in 2 vehicles, is it really to cold for a motor home in July and also would it work out cheaper to hire a car and stay in motels as it is low season, your thoughts/advice on this would be great, thanks in advance.

July is the coldest month of the year - and yes, a car and motels is the less expensive option, year round.

In summer you can enjoy the outdoors till dark at 10pm - in July it will be dark by 5pm so long nights in a cramped space with dripping condensation.

Fun? I don't think so.

The car/motel option is best as there a lot of camp grounds or motels you could use dotted around the place.
