Whats your top 5

Hello folks,

If you had to select the top 5 destinations in South Island for scenery and natural beauty for the month of March, what would they be? What are the absolute must see places, regardless of whether they are close to each other or spread out?

* Assume that time/transport is not an issue. Lets try and keep the list to 5 places only and see what everyone can come up with.

I don't agree with the premise of "5 best" as it is too subjective, but here are mine:

Mt Cook,

Arthurs Pass

Abel Tasman

Fox Glacier

Akaroa

Sights that took my breath away:

Wanaka and surrounding areas (Rob Roy Glacier, Mou Waho Island)

the coast between Westport and Greymouth (Motukiekie Beach)

the road to Glenorchy

The view of the mountains from Kaikoura Peninsula

View of Southern Alps reflected on Lake Matheson.

View from the summit of Mount Stokes, Marlborough Sounds. The hike to the top is rather dull.

Molesworth/Rainbow Road

North West Nelson - Road to Anatori, like going back in town, wild, rough and untamed. Plus the landscape simply amazes me.

Dusky Sound

Blue Lake, Nelson Lakes NP and the track leading there.

Could easily add another five which are just as deserving.
