Camping recommendation near Kaikoura - early Jan 2015

We want to spend our last night in our campervan around Kaikoura. The night before we'll be in Nelson and it's due in Christchurch at late afternoon of the following day. The Kaikoura campervan park doesn't sound very appealing. Any suggestions? We are a family of four: 2 fiftysomethings with 2 young adult children. Thanks! PS I thought I already posted this but now I can't see it. Apologies for the repetition if so but eager for input!

We stayed at Alpine Pacific in 2011. The sites were nothing special but the common facilities were very well done - clean and modern. A very short drive to the peninsula.

Recently someone mentioned some campgrounds a bit south of Kaikoura which looked appealing as they were on a beautiful section of the coastline. I've never stayed there, but here's the link:

Which Kaikoura campervan park are you referring to? There are several in Kaikoura. I quite like the Top 10 Holiday Park. The camp grounds south of Kaikoura at Goose Bay, Boat Harbour, etc are in lovely locations but there is only one restaurant down the road and the camp facilities are a bit rough. The Kiwis who use it don't mind this, however.
