Christmas Day Dinner in Christchurch

Long time reader, first time poster...

My family and I will be arriving at Christchurch on the afternoon of Christmas day, so I'm just wondering what restaurants would be open for dinner on 25 Dec? I don't think it will be possible for us to have a BBQ, since we are arriving by flight, and therefore won't be able to shop for supplies the day before.

Does your accommodation have a restaurant? if so stay there. If not, then ask them what is open near them, and book ASAP. A lot of places are open but will be fully booked come xmas day. You'll find it very hard just to walk in a restaurant and get a table.

Supermarkets are closed on xmas day, so you won't be able to get anything from them either.

I am also arriving by plane Christmas Day afternoon and am looking for a nice place to go for dinner. I am only finding the big hotels are open for dinner (bookings urgently required) however would like to find something a little more intimate but am having now luck.
