2 weeks on North Island New Zealand in early November

Hi all

planning on renting a car in Auckland and trying to get to these places in two weeks without alot of backtracking... looking for the best driving routes??

Bay of Islands, Cape Regina, Coromandel, Waitomo Caves Whangarei Falls, Rotura, Lake Taupo, Tongarino Park- maybe do crossing?, Wellington is our car drop off spot after 13-15 days... What did we miss that we shouldn't.? Any suggestions as to driving routes to hit all these places or is it too much to do?

Hi :)

Christchurch is in NZ so that's a good beginning.

But Chch is in the South Island. You might be best to repost this in a North Island forum :)

No biggie. Here's a suggested order for you:

Auckland - Whangerei Falls (or on way back) - Bay of Islands - Cape Reinga (Doubtless Bay is lovely to stay at if you want to be closer to the Cape) - Waitomo - Coromandel - Rotorua - Taupo - Tongariro - Wellington.

All are reasonable driving distances, except from Doubtless Bay to Waitomo if you decide to stay there. It's close to a 7 hour drive, and you will want to stop at the Waipoua Forest to visit Tane Matuhu (very large tree).
