Welcome to TA, Maria. What time of year are you coming and what are your interests? Wildlife or wine tasting? Adrenaline activities or cruises? What places are on your wish list as you won't have time to "see it all"?

in 3 weeks we recommend 2 weeks for the SI & 1 week for the NI - eg a circle from Chch, west to the Glaciers, then south through Haast Pass to Wanaka/ Queenstown/ Milford sound and North via Mt Cook; back to Chch-Kaikoura-Picton. In the NI you would choose between the central volcanoes (Tongariro NP) or Napier ( Art Deco architecture, wine-tasing & gannets); then Taupo, Rotorua, Coromandel or Waitomo Caves to AKL.

If you browse this Forum you will see many itineraries posted here every day.

Thank you :-)

we are arriving on the 19th of August into Christchurch (I no, it will be cold!). mainly see the main sights and do a mix of things like maybe a day wine tasting and then do the swing or bungee in Queenstown. don't think we will get skiing in!

just wanted to get an idea of a rough route to go especially in the south island as it seems there is alot to do!
