campsites in south island

Travelling around in campervan (what else!!) during Feb. Will we need to book ahead for our campsites? Will be doing the usual sort of things and would like to be able to plan as we go but would like to stay on good campsites for most of it.

You should mostly be OK but if there is somewhere that you really want to stay at try and book a few days ahead. In some places you may not get a prime site (front row overlooking beach/lake etc). Schools return Feb 7th but NZers in the know go on holiday during Feb- no screaming kids and more importantly the weather SHOULD be fine and settled.

Hi,

Where can I get advice on Top 10 sites? Heard they're the place to stay at.

Thanks

Here you go;

They are good clean holiday parks but don't dismiss others- NZ has dozens of good camping grounds. Another option is the DOC (Department of Conservation) camping grounds which range from basic to serviced sites;
